Meta tag checker and preview
Meta tags are what a search result and a shared link actually show — not what your CMS preview claims. Enter a domain and we'll fetch the live HTML and print the tags verbatim, with the title and description measured against the width search engines truncate at.

Measured across every site in our public database.
Why this matters
The description doesn't affect ranking — it affects whether anyone clicks
Google has not used meta description as a ranking factor for years, and rewrites it for roughly two thirds of results anyway. It still matters because it is your only control over the sales pitch under the link. A page ranked 4th with a description that answers the query will out-earn a page ranked 2nd with a truncated boilerplate line.
Korean and Japanese titles hit the limit twice as fast
Search results truncate on rendered width, not character count. A Hangul or Kana glyph is about twice as wide as a Latin character, so a 35-character Korean title is already at the cut-off that an English title reaches at 70. This checker measures width, not `.length`, which is why the number here will differ from most English-built tools.
How to fix it
1. Write the title for the query, not the company
Lead with what the page is about and put the brand at the end: `robots.txt checker — test your file instantly | Brand`. Homepages are the exception — there, brand first is right. Every page needs its own title; a site where 40 pages share one title is telling Google they are duplicates.
2. Keep the description a real sentence under the cut-off
Aim for a width of 50–160 (roughly 50–160 Latin characters, or 25–80 Korean/Japanese). Say specifically what the visitor gets. Skip keyword lists — Google rewrites those first, and they read like spam to the human deciding whether to click.
3. Set canonical on every page, pointing at itself
A self-referencing canonical is the cheapest defence against duplicate-content dilution from tracking parameters, session IDs, and paginated variants. Make it absolute (`https://…`), and make sure it points at the URL you actually want ranked, not a staging or www/non-www variant.
4. Add Open Graph, then test the preview
`og:title`, `og:description`, `og:image` and `og:url` control what appears when the link is pasted into KakaoTalk, Slack, LINE, or X. Use an image at least 1200×630. Caches are sticky — after changing them, re-scrape with the platform's own debugger rather than assuming the update propagated.

- Google is showing a different description than the one I set. Can I stop that?
- Not reliably. Google rewrites descriptions when it thinks a passage from the page answers the query better. You can reduce it by making the description specific to the page's actual content rather than generic marketing copy — a description that already answers the likely query is the one most often kept.
- How long should a Korean title be?
- About 30–35 characters. The practical limit is width, not count: Korean characters render roughly twice as wide as Latin ones, so 35 Korean characters occupies the same space as a 70-character English title.
- Do meta keywords still do anything?
- No. Google ignored them for two decades and Bing treats them as a spam signal if anything. Remove the tag; it does nothing but tell competitors which terms you're targeting.
- This tool shows no tags but I can see them in my browser. Why?
- Your tags are probably being injected by JavaScript after load. Most crawlers do read rendered HTML eventually, but the first pass sees the raw response — and social-link previews and many AI crawlers never run JavaScript at all. Render the tags server-side.
